The man who died following a road traffic collision in County Offaly overnight involving a car and a pedestrian is from County Roscommon, the Roscommon Herald has learned. The collision took place shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday on the R446 at Marshbrook, near the Westmeath border. The man, from the Loughglynn/Lisacul area, a pedestrian and aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The road remains closed to traffic while a forensic examination takes place, with local diversions in place.
